Instead: a comprehensive plan for a healing journey through your illness.
The author, Achim Zinggrebe, M.D., knows feelings of helplessness and anger.
Although he was a doctor in a hospital, his cancer diagnosis initially made him feel like "just another patient." He felt trapped in the grind of conventional treatments—until he realized: That’s not enough for me. I want to do more for my health. I want to contribute in some way.
I do everything that helps. If each factor increases my chances by just 1%, that adds up to a lot in total.
This is the encouraging motto that Achim shares with his readers. For him, it was the key to his recovery.
Use this book to approach your illness with confidence and competence from the very beginning. Use it to move forward with strength from where you are—even in the midst of treatment or long after the treatment itself.
The book provides you with a clear roadmap.

My request to you: Stop reacting, don’t start resigning, but begin to take action. Act. Now.
When the body falls ill, the soul suffers as well. Mental stress, fear, and feelings of helplessness are factors of suffering that many cancer patients face. But this can be avoided!
The causes of this type of stress are varied: well-meaning advice from friends that creates guilt ("If only I had lived differently"). Authoritative doctors who dismiss any alternative views and ridicule other options. Horror stories in online forums. Statistics that scare and fuel false assumptions.
This is what Achim Zinggrebe says, who himself overcame a serious cancer illness. As a conventional medical doctor, he understood both the blessings and the limits of traditional treatments—and the power of a holistic approach that includes the body, soul, and mind. He created his own path to healing—a combination of conventional and alternative medicine, along with gentle body therapies, mental training, meditation, and energetic treatment.
Now, he brings all of these approaches together in his book in a comprehensive, constructive way. The symptom manifests in the body, but healing must involve the body, soul, and mind. All three elements play a vital role in rebuilding your healthy life on new, stronger foundations. Recovery and health are not a state, but a continuous development.

As an experienced doctor in clinical practice and oncology drug development, I have dedicated my career to understanding and treating cancer.
After years in the hospital and research, my own path was shaken by a cancer diagnosis.
Five Questions for A. Zinggrebe, M.D.
Stand up, fight for yourself, put yourself first from now on, and reach for the hands that are extended to support you. There is more than you see or think! Embark on this path, and you will find more than you’ve lost.
It saved my life. Before that, I was living someone else’s life: a person I didn’t even recognize anymore. I chased after the wrong values, had misguided ideals, unhealthy goals, and placed far too many expectations on myself. Through my illness, I got to know myself anew. I discovered that I could feel love for myself. I became grateful for so many little things, as well as for the big things that used to pass me by unnoticed. Only through this did I find my current life and my calling.
I don’t like the either-or thinking. Still, different approaches are often pitted against each other. But there is incredible strength in integration. My education was based in conventional medicine, and for a long time, I was solely connected to it. I have to smile when I think about it: Why did I have to be confronted with the possibility of my death in order to change my mindset?
Conventional medicine (the regular medicine we have here) is, in my opinion, an important part of cancer treatment, but it is not the only one. The focus should be on viewing the person as a whole—accepting, understanding, and treating them. We are not just our bodies. The mind and soul are equally important. It took me a long time to learn this. But once I did, a new life began for me.
I see my support as a way to motivate people. I encourage them to rise up, to take responsibility for themselves again. The people I work with become visibly braver, they experience themselves as effective, and begin to rebuild their self-confidence.
What’s important to me is that my approach is an open one: I make no claim to completeness. I share my experiences and encourage experimentation. But I also say: Develop your own path from this!
I always make sure that the scientific foundation of my recommendations is solid. Because hope needs evidence—and there is plenty of it!
One thing I can promise: You will get to know yourself much better on the path I offer. And you will definitely strengthen all three elements: body, mind, and soul.
I myself initially shuffled through the hospital corridor, head down, without hope. To people like I once was, I now say: Look up! The sun is still there, the blue sky is still there, even if you can’t see it right now. Take the hands I extend to you in this book, let me be your companion for a while. I can show you shortcuts.
You can do far more for yourself than you think (and than the conventional medical system usually lets you believe). Activating your self-healing powers is crucial. And I provide you with many ways to reach all three systems. From within, you bring in new energy and unlock the best possible chances for yourself. You can find your way back to life—and in doing so, you will naturally become healthier.
Anyone who receives a cancer diagnosis probably asks themselves: Why me? At least, that’s how it was for me. When I experienced firsthand the many ways in which one can support oneself as a patient, I began helping others. I found meaning, and I was able to answer the question for myself: I want to be a shortcut. So be smarter than I was back then! Use my experience, build upon it, don’t hesitate—act!
